5 things to really not bother taking …

… on a trip with kids around the world. We bought ‘em, we chucked ‘em along the way. Please add your own useless gadgets through Comments, below.

1) packing compressors. they sound SO great … you can reduce your clothes and increase your packing space by 80%! They don’t mention the fact that they make your clothes mouldy, squeezing all those lovely spores and moisture together. That the oh-so-handy zip up thingies just spring open leaving no vacuum whatsoever. But if you STILL want them, click here
2) iodine tincture. we still diligently carry this, in case we come across brackish water … with no kettle, or bottled water. I like the idea but when – and I include the Amazon and jungles of Borneo in this – does the average adventure traveller have no means to either a) BOIL water or b) buy bottles? Still, better safe than sorry – buy here

In the Greek midwinter
